Kristin Brin - Artist Statement
“Be yourself.” I tell myself this every time I step into my studio, “You are allowed to create anything, anything at all." Yet the business of letting it out for the world to see is a challenge to me, which is surprising to people who know me, as I am very outgoing.
I don’t know where this road may lead me and I am looking forward to progress and observing it all unfold. My practice of making art is centered within my capacity. Linar insistence gives me the true balance that ascends by art and even my work outside of my Studio.
I have always painted and as the years race by, each artwork suggests to me that I am changing. From the selections I make from my dozens of studies, to the style and technique that I offer to the canvas, it is without my own desire to earn a living as an artist but my wild unconscious guidance. If you asked me fifteen years ago what the meaning was, I would have been dismissive about the question. Perhaps expressing that it’s about love for painting and other surface comments of joy and happiness. That is not true any longer and I am finally comfortable sharing my story with you. As soft and gentle as many of my paintings are, there was a pathway to this moment which was twisted and painful. I am a strong person without a straightforward past.
After years of holding back my feminine tendencies towards color, grace and beauty, I finally broke free because I realized that no one cares, not many are even looking, fine by me. I stepped back from painting to please others and discovered my real passion, painting for the love of creating lovely, feminine, unencumbered art. When creating beautiful paintings, I am drawing inspiration from certain objects that are so unexpected. My concepts and studies come primarily from my imagination and desire to see without the limitations of literalism.I feel lucky to see paintings wherever I am, discovering art in an object or a view. I am constantly observing colors, lines and shapes around me. I see my paintings as atmosphere, mood, an ambient haze which relaxes the mind, heart and soul.
The Look of Love - Broach Collection
The Look of Love broach collection centers on the motif of the eye, a subject deeply tied to themes of intimacy and devotion. This design concept draws inspiration from the late 18th-century trend of “lover’s eye” jewelry, which emerged in England around the 1780s and 1790s. These miniature portraits—typically a single eye painted on ivory and set into brooches or pendants—were exchanged as secret tokens of affection, allowing lovers to carry a personal, private keepsake. The modern interpretation in this collection reimagines that historical sentiment with contemporary craftsmanship, elegant detailing, and a romantic aesthetic.
A New Series of paintings by Kristin Brin
Stand For Love
Look For Love Within
Following the intimate narrative of the Look of Love brooch collection, Kristin Brin introduces Her Look of Love, a bold series of ten abstract portraits that reimagine the essence of love, mystery, and femininity. These works transcend literal representation, instead embracing fragmented forms, fluid lines, and emotive color fields to capture the complexity of a woman’s inner world.
Each painting is a dialogue between strength, beauty and the lover’s eye while infusing it with contemporary energy. The women portrayed do not simply wear the brooches; they embody them, radiating intimacy, individuality, and unapologetic beauty through abstraction.
For Love Look Within is not just a series—it’s an exploration of identity and desire expressed through the language of shape and color. Expect bold compositions, layered textures, and a sense of movement that keeps the viewer searching for meaning—much like the secret lovers who once exchanged tokens of affection centuries ago.
This highly anticipated collection will be unveiled in the six months, inviting collectors and art enthusiasts to experience Kristin Brin’s most daring work to date. Prepare for a series that challenges perception, celebrates mystery, and invites you to see love through an entirely new lens.
